Men's Health Clinic in Maryland: Primary Care for Men at Every Age

Looking for a men's health clinic in Maryland? Learn about checkups, prostate and heart screenings, sexual health, and mental health support, all in one place.

A lot of men wait until something hurts before they see a doctor. Work gets busy, the family needs you, and a little fatigue or a nagging pain gets filed under "I'll deal with it later." Then, a year or two later, the same symptom is still there, and it's harder to ignore.

We see that pattern often at Maryland Behavioral Health, and we'd like to make the first step easier. Our men's health services combine routine primary care with screening, sexual health support, and mental health care under one roof. This article walks through what that looks like, who it's for, and how to get started at our men's health page.

Routine Checkups

A yearly exam is the simplest way to stay ahead of problems. During a visit, we check your blood pressure, weight, and body mass index, talk through your family history, and ask about the habits that matter: how you sleep, what you eat, how much you move, and how you handle alcohol and stress. Then we decide together what to watch and what to do next.

Many men find that the conversation is the most useful part. You don't have to arrive with a list of complaints. "I'm tired all the time" or "I don't feel like myself" is enough to start a real discussion.

Prostate Screening

Prostate health is one of the most common questions we get. A PSA blood test is one tool used to look for prostate problems, and the decision to test is a shared one. Guidelines generally suggest talking about screening in your 40s or 50s, and earlier if you have risk factors such as a family history of prostate cancer.

We'll explain what a PSA result does and doesn't tell you. An elevated number doesn't automatically mean cancer, and a normal one doesn't rule everything out. If results need follow-up, we'll walk you through what the next steps look like and why. The screening process is quick and handled privately.

Heart and Blood Sugar

Heart disease is a bigger risk for men, and it often gives little warning. We check cholesterol and blood pressure, screen for diabetes, and estimate your heart disease risk so you know where you stand. If your numbers are off, the solution is often a mix of changes you can actually keep up and, when needed, medication. Our preventive care and screenings page covers the wider set of tests we use.

Hormones and Energy

Persistent fatigue, low motivation, trouble sleeping, shifts in weight or muscle strength, or a drop in libido can all have many causes, and hormones are one of them. We offer hormone evaluations when symptoms point that way, and we look at thyroid function, sleep, and metabolic health alongside them. Treatment decisions follow from the results. We won't recommend hormone therapy just because a symptom is present.

Sexual Health

Erectile dysfunction, low libido, and reproductive health questions can feel awkward to raise. We keep those conversations private and direct. Care includes support for erectile dysfunction and low libido, reproductive health concerns, and STI testing and education. You can talk about it without a lecture, and you'll leave with a clear plan.

Weight, Nutrition, and Fitness

Most men don't need a radical overhaul. They need a plan that fits a real schedule. We help set goals around weight, metabolic health, energy, and fitness, and we revisit those goals as life changes. Small, repeatable changes almost always beat a crash program that falls apart by March.

Mental Health

Men often carry stress, anger, pressure at work, and worry that never gets said out loud. Depression can look like irritability instead of sadness, and it can show up as drinking more, pulling back from friends, or working longer hours to avoid feeling anything. We offer integrated mental health support for work stress, anxiety, depression, anger, sleep problems, trauma, and relationship strain. Our depression treatment and therapy and counseling services are available in the same clinic, so your physical and emotional care can be coordinated.

Choosing a Provider

Comfort matters. Some men prefer a male provider and others don't mind either way. We offer both male- and female-led provider options, so you can choose what feels right. We also keep appointments accessible, with same-week availability listed on our site.

Getting Started

Telehealth and in-person visits are both available. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with telehealth and in-person appointments on the first and third Saturdays of the month. To book, call (301) 249-8100 or use the contact form on our website. We accept a range of private and public insurance plans, but coverage for specific screenings or tests varies, so check your benefits first.

If your first step is simply admitting that it's been a while since your last checkup, that counts. Call, and we'll help you figure out the rest.

If You Need Help Right Now

If you have chest pain, trouble breathing, sudden weakness on one side of the body, or severe trouble speaking, call 911 right away. If you're thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at any time.
