Master the Road With Confidence: Pass Plus Driving Lessons in Oxford
Passing your practical driving test is an incredible achievement, but it is only the first step in your journey as a motorist. For new drivers, gaining confidence on busy motorways, negotiating complex roundabouts, and driving safely in severe weather conditions often takes months or years of solitary experience. Statistics show that new drivers are most vulnerable during their first year on the road after passing their test.
To help newly qualified drivers build advanced skills and stay safe, Oxford Driving School offers dedicated passplus driving oxford training courses. Recognized by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), the Pass Plus scheme is designed to enhance your driving skills, boost your confidence, and potentially help you save on car insurance costs.
What Is the Pass Plus Scheme?
Pass Plus is a practical training course designed for drivers who have already passed their UK driving test. The course consists of a minimum of 6 hours of advanced tuition with a DVSA-approved driving instructor (ADI).
Importantly, there is no test at the end of the course. Instead, your instructor continually assesses your progress throughout the modules. Once you reach the required standard across all modules, you will receive a official Pass Plus certificate.
The 6 Core Modules Covered in Pass Plus
The Pass Plus curriculum focuses on six critical driving environments that are often not covered in depth during standard driving lessons:
Town Driving: Navigating heavy urban traffic, complex Oxford city-center one-way systems, pedestrian crossings, cycle lanes, and bus lanes safely.
All-Weather Driving: Understanding stopping distances, skid prevention, and safe driving techniques in heavy rain, fog, ice, snow, and bright glare.
Out-of-Town Driving & Rural Roads: Handling high-speed rural roads, blind bends, overtaking safely, narrow country lanes, and passing horses or farm vehicles.
Night Driving: Adapting to poor visibility, managing headlight glare from oncoming vehicles, adjusting speeds, and judging distances in the dark.
Dual Carriageway Driving: Joining and leaving high-speed dual carriageways via slip roads, lane discipline, overtaking safely, and maintaining safe braking distances.
Motorway Driving: Gaining practical experience on UK motorways (such as the M40)—mastering lane positioning, high-speed merging, smart motorways, overtaking, and route planning.
