Is Grizz the Gentle Giant You Have Been Searching for Among Maine Coon Cats for Sale Utah?

Say it’s a Sunday and you’re browsing local listings, half hoping to find a calm, large cat who won’t climb the curtains. Then you read about a 20 pound boy with a purr like a jungle cat, who loves kids, dogs and other cats. Hard to scroll past.

That’s Grizz, a black mackerel tabby at Mountain Crest Maine Coons. He’s retiring from the program, and the available adults page lists him at $2,000.

Who Grizz Is

Grizz was born in May 2024 and turned 2 that May. The males page says he weighed 20 pounds at 1.5 years. He’s described as cool, calm and collected, steady and unbothered. He gives soft hand kisses to anyone who offers a hand.

His DNA is N/N for HCM, SMA, PK and PK Def, hips graded 1 via PawPeds, maine coon retired cats for sale with echocardiograms in May 2025 and September 2026, all normal.

The Belly Rule

The adults page adds a funny note: he loves being around his people, just maybe don’t touch the belly unless invited. That’s classic cat. Good to know before you try a surprise rub.

A cat with boundaries is a cat you can understand.

His Next Chapter

They say he’s ready to be a spoiled couch pet. They’ve kept what they wanted from his lines, and now the priority is a forever home where he’s loved and pampered. There’s no rush, and he’s expected to be ready this winter or spring.

That’s a lovely way to describe retirement.

The Utah Preference

They’d strongly prefer Grizz stay in Utah so they can continue occasional heart scans, completely on their dime. If you’re searching maine coon cats for sale utah, that makes him a nice local fit.

It also shows a breeder who plans for long term care.

Why Follow up Scans Matter

Heart scans help catch changes early. Breeders offering them for a retired cat is generous. Ask any breeder if similar follow up is available for adopted cats.

It shows commitment.

The Waiting Note

An update on the page says they’ve decided to hold off selecting Grizz’s family until after his neuter. They already received some wonderful applications, and don’t want anyone to feel committed while they finalize plans.

They’ll still accept applications and reach out when the timing is right.

Is He Right for Your Home?

He loves kids, dogs and other cats, which makes him a strong candidate for busy households. He’s calm and confident, so a lively home won’t rattle him. If you want a big, easygoing cat, he checks the boxes.

Just plan for sturdy furniture, because 20 pounds is no joke.

Other Utah Options

Grizz isn’t the only one. Mango is reserved at $1,200, Vienna is available at $2,500, and kittens come in litters T, S and U. The kittens page lists $5,000, though you should confirm current pricing.

Different budgets and different lifestyles can find a fit.

Conclusion

Grizz is a big, gentle boy looking for a spoiled retirement. If you want a calm companion and live in Utah, he’s a strong candidate among maine coon cats for sale utah. Apply, be patient and ask questions.
