The popularity of this ancient art has spread all over the world since it was discovered that it has deep powers to promote inner health and balance, this inviting people into holistic healthcare. The Origins of Reiki Energy Healing

The roots of Reiki can be traced back to early 20th century Japan when Dr Mikao Usui rediscovered this age-old process of healing. Being a Japanese Buddhist, Dr Usui wanted to know what healing really meant, so he went on a journey. This took him up Mount Kurama, where, for twenty-one days, he meditated without eating or drinking anything at all. In such intense conditions, one day, something happened – Usui had an enlightening experience followed by receiving ability.

Then, he began teaching others based on his new understanding while also practicing this system of natural treatment he had created. Many healers were trained who later disseminated Reiki throughout Japan, among them being Dr. Chujiro Hayashi – one student who stood out most because through refining techniques learned from Usui sensei (teacher), otherwise known as sensei’s teachings, continuity would not have been achieved; hence setting the stage for an introduction to the west was done thanks largely due efforts put forth during those times too.

Reiki healing was brought to America in the 1930s by Mrs. Hawayo Takata, a Japanese-American lady who had been healed through this practice when she received treatment from Dr. Hayashi in Japan before coming back home for good. She became an ardent practitioner and teacher, thereby establishing rei ki (as it was spelled then) practice within the Western world, which eventually led to its spread across North America before finally reaching other parts worldwide through many students that followed after her example set forth during those days, too.
