3 Eco-Friendly Swaps To Make In 2026!

Making more eco-friendly choices in your home is not only beneficial to the environment, but it can also help to save you money too, so it’s a real win-win! If you’re wanting to make eco-friendly changes to your routine in 2026 without completely overhauling everything, then we’re here with three simple swaps that will make a big difference, with little effort.

Get Yourself a Reusable Coffee Cup and Water Bottle

One of the most important things you can do to reduce your carbon footprint in 2026 is to get yourself a reusable water bottle and coffee cup. Taking these with you on-the-go is so important to help you make a more eco-friendly choice, as even though you may only get one of each per week, over the course of the year that’s 100 pieces of rubbish that could have been avoided!

Not only this, but the cost of disposable items is increasing, so you’ll be spending a lot of money on your bottles of water throughout the year. Instead, most cafes will fill up your water bottle for you free of charge, so once you’ve bought the bottle, it’s just free to use. As well, you can save money by not buying as many takeaway coffees, as instead you can make at home and take with you. Or, many coffee shops will reduce the price of the coffee if you bring your own takeaway cup as an incentive, so that’s something to consider as well.

Reduce Single Use Items

Another positive change you can make is to reduce the amount of single use items you are using at home. There are so many ways that you can do this and here are some examples:

  • Swap your plastic milk bottles for milk deliveries in glass bottles from McQueens Dairies, as they’ll be collected and you can enjoy fresh, delicious milk.
  • Get rid of your tin foil and cling film and instead, keep your leftovers in reusable tubs and get yourself beeswax wrap for your sandwiches
  • Take your own reusable bags shopping with you, to save money and the environment
  • Consider buying your cupboard staples from a zero waste shop, where you can take your own containers with you

There are so many positive things you can do to reduce single use items in your home, to save money and help the environment.

Change Your Correspondence to Paperless

Something else you should do to help make your household more eco-friendly is to change your correspondence to paperless. If you still get any letters through the post, go onto their website and make a request to change it over to paperless. You will still receive any important documents to your email, then you can put them into different folders. Not only does this benefit the environment, but it also means you have important documentation with you whenever you need it. This really simple swap can make such a big difference to how eco-friendly your home is!
