Car Park Barrier Systems for Condominiums and Industrial Sites: A Buyer’s Guide
A car park barrier does more than lift and lower an arm. It controls who enters, keeps traffic moving at peak hours and protects residents and staff. Whether you manage a condominium or an industrial site, cover these points before choosing a system.
1. Know Your Traffic
Condominiums see steady flow with morning and evening rushes. Industrial sites may handle trucks, deliveries and shift changes all day. The barrier’s speed and duty rating must suit your busiest period, otherwise queues form and the motor wears out early.
2. Match the Barrier to the Lane
Lane width decides the arm length. Wider lanes need heavier-duty barriers built for road access, while compact entries can use smaller models. Compare the range of road barriers against your actual entrance dimensions.
3. Decide How Vehicles Are Identified
Options include remotes, access cards, keypads, intercoms or a ticketing system. Condominiums usually need resident access plus a visitor process, while industrial sites may need different permissions for staff, contractors and delivery drivers. Check that the barrier works with your access control setup.
4. Put Safety First
Look for safety photocells, vehicle detection where appropriate, and clear warning lights and signage. Ask what happens during a power cut, and whether the unit can be released manually. Outdoor equipment should also cope with Singapore’s heat, humidity and heavy rain.
5. Plan for Support
A barrier works all day, every day. Servicing, spare parts availability and response time matter as much as the purchase price, so ask about a maintenance plan before you buy.
