A Forest Instead of a Monument: Badanpur Plants 10,000 Trees in Memory of Guruji
In an age where memory is often carved into cold stone or built with concrete, a quiet village in Gujarat is offering a refreshing, living alternative. In Badanpur, near Patan, over 10,000 saplings stand in neat rows, embarking on a journey to transform open land into a dense, shade-giving forest within just 3 to 4 years.
This living sanctuary serves as a loving memorial to Param Pujya Guruji Shri Bhanuvijay Maharaj Saheb. Guruji often reminded his followers:
"All the material that we receive in our life comes from nature. It is then not a favour to nature that you are giving back. It is a duty."
Supported by Mumbai donor Shri Jagdishbhai Vora and executed through Sadbhavna Vrudhashram’s "500 Jungle in Gujarat" initiative, the Badanpur Forest is a testament to how reverence, community partnership, and scientific tree care can revitalize ecosystems.
The "500 Jungle in Gujarat" Model
Sadbhavna Vrudhashram brings over 11 years of experience and a track record of planting more than 1.1 crore (11,151,530+) trees across India. Unlike one-off plantation drives that often see saplings perish due to neglect, Sadbhavna’s approach guarantees survival and long-term ecosystem growth.

Designed as a Living Sanctuary
The Badanpur Forest goes beyond being just a field of trees. The project includes:
A Welcoming Gate: Giving identity and structure to the community forest.
A Shaded Gazebo: A peaceful resting place for visitors, villagers, and elders.
An Annakshetra for Wildlife: A dedicated feeding station serving the lakhs of birds and small animals expected to make the forest their home.
Projected Ecological Impact
Once the forest matures over the next 3 to 4 years, it will deliver tangible environmental benefits to the Patan region:
Oxygen Generation: ~190 tonnes of oxygen released.
Carbon Absorption: Over 215 tonnes of $\text{CO}_2$ sequestered.
Microclimate Cooling: A anticipated temperature reduction of 2 to 3°C in surrounding areas.
Soil & Water Conservation: Improved groundwater recharge and prevention of topsoil erosion during monsoon rains.
Biodiversity Support: Potential habitat for lakhs of birds (estimating ~25 birds per tree).
A Model for Greener Communities
The success at Badanpur demonstrates how local Gram Panchayats, generous donors, and professional execution teams can collaborate seamlessly. By honoring teachers and loved ones with living trees instead of static monuments, communities create lasting ecological heritage for future generations.
