The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is a government organization in India that is responsible for selecting candidates for a wide range of positions across different ministries, departments, and subordinate offices of the Indian government.
For the first time in January 2023, the SSC opted to hold the Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff examination in 13 different Indian languages, which includes Urdu, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Konkani, Meitei (Manipuri), Marathi, Odia, and Punjabi, in addition to Hindi and English, from the total of 22 official languages recognized in the Indian Republic.

Organization of SSC:

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) affiliates the commission, comprising a chairman, two members, and a secretary-cum-controller of examinations. The secretary’s position is at the same level as that of an additional secretary to the government of India.
