The IVF treatment in Lahore | Genova Infertility Centre

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) can help you become pregnant. IUI can be applied 6 times in total, so for 6 cycles. This usually takes six months. If it turns out that the concentration of good sperm cells is still too low, you will be advised to switch to Fertility Centre in Pakistan. IVF Centre

IVF (test tube fertilization) is done for a number of different reasons:

1. The fallopian tubes (tuba) are closed due to inflammation (venereal disease, appendicitis), or due to adhesions after other abdominal operations (for example endometriosis).

2. The number of well-motile sperm cells after work-up is less than 1 *10 6

3. No pregnancy occurred after 6 inseminations (IUI).

ICSI (intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection) is done as;

1. The number of well-motile sperm cells after processing is less than 0.6

2. No fertilization has occurred with IVF.

The treatment

The treatment a woman must undergo for both treatments is the same. Only the laboratory technology is different at ICSI. With IVF the sperm cells themselves fertilize the egg cell, with ICSI 1 sperm cells are introduced into the egg cell.

If several egg sacs are large enough (from 18 mm), the puncture will be scheduled. You must administer a final injection to further mature the egg sacs, and the puncture is scheduled approximately 36 hours later. You report to the IVF clinic at the agreed time. You will then be given something soothing and a painkiller. Your partner must generate sperm at that time so that it can be processed and used. Your partner is usually present during the puncture. A puncture is annoying, but everyone experiences it differently. If all goes well you can go home. 

After treatment

On the day of the puncture, you start supporting the endometrium (mucous lining of the uterus) with progesterone in the evening. In Pakistan this is usually Utrogestan. You insert this vaginally. You should use this until you know if you are pregnant. After a few days you will receive a telephone appointment with the Infertility Doctors in Lahore to hear whether fertilization has occurred. If so, you will receive an appointment for return after a few days. If not, we will discuss what to do.

The transfer

The best embryo is used for the transfer. In principle, 1 embryo is transferred in the Netherlands, even if you are older than 38. Only in a possible subsequent cycle will a maximum of 2 embryos be transferred. The replacement is an easy (and of course exciting!) action. The embryo is inserted into the uterus through the vagina using a very thin straw. You do not need pain relief for this. It only takes a few seconds. After this, an exciting time begins. You can take a pregnancy test 12 days after the transfer.

What is an IUI treatment?

IUI stands for intrauterine insemination (means: insertion of sperm cells into the uterus). When a man and woman have intercourse, the sperm enters the vagina after ejaculation. The sperm cells swim through the mucus from the cervix to the uterine cavity and from there on to the fallopian tubes. The sperm cells are given a helping hand. In the laboratory, the "good" sperm cells are separated from the ones and then introduced approximately 6 cm deep into the uterus through a tube. They then have to swim to the fallopian tubes themselves for final fertilization.

Of course, this is a very general overview. Each clinic will inform you well. IVF/ICSI is not harmful to the child. There are indications that you have a slightly increased risk of premature birth. If you become pregnant and you are otherwise healthy, you can simply be monitored by a midwife.
