Christian Funeral

Christian Funeral services are conducted in conjunction with the pastors of the church. Harmony Funeral Care will coordinate with the family members and pastors with regards to the timings for the en-coffining, burial and cremation service. Different churches would have slightly different styles of conducting the funeral service.

Elements Of A Christian Funeral
In general, all Christian funeral services in Singapore would have these elements:

• Short prayer when dearly departed is brought back to wake venue
• Night service conducted by the church where there would be praise and worship (Sound System would have to be in place)
• Final day service conducted by the church at the wake venue and then at Mandai Crematorium/ Choa Chu Kang burial ground
• Final tribute paid by laying of flowers by family and friends

*The lid of the casket can be opened upon request by family members should they want to place the deceased’s personal belongings into the casket.

Christian Afterlife Beliefs
The mood is often one of joy and hope in Christian Funerals. This is because Christians believe that life on Earth is but a temporary home and it is simply where God moulds His people for life after death. Death is the door to what is termed Eternal Life. There is hope and comfort in the knowledge that when a Christian passes on, only the physical body perishes. The soul goes to Heaven, where it would be with Christ. This is why the phrase “Departed to be with the Lord” is so often used. Also, the term “See you again” supersedes “Goodbye” as there is a strong belief that Christians will all reunite in Heaven one day.
